I almost went through today without remembering to take a single picture, but leave it up to Mr. Trouble to give me a reason to grab the camera right before bed tonight and get a snap!
This picture pretty much explains itself. Somehow over the last week, Justin has went from climbing up the stairs to a slide to thinking he needs to climb in and on EVERYTHING! It's no longer just the stairs or the stepstool or the coffee table, but it's now laundry baskets and boxes and as of today a drawer!
Our bedtime routine with Justin is not quite the same as with Katelynn. I'm still hoping he changes his mind as he gets a bit older, but he has no interest in reading books. I LOVE books, and I have always read to the kids from the time they were born. Katelynn would sit through books from day one, and she still loves to read them. Justin on the other hand has not sat through an entire book since he could move about freely. I can grab his attention with a book that makes noise but forget just a plain storybook. Nights when Jonathan is out of town are a bit tricky because I have two kids to put to bed that want different things. Our routine tends to start with both kids on my lap for a book and about two pages into it, Justin is escaping any which way he can. Typically we are in Katelynn's room and he ventures off and plays with her stuffed animals, climbs onto her bed, or gets into her jewlery (or something he shouldn't have). We interrupt the books here and there to guide him to a baby-safe toy and then keep reading. Tonight, however, we tried his room where there wouldn't be anything for him to get into that wasn't safe (or so I thought). He opens his lower drawers sometimes, but I never expected him to start climbing in it once it was open!! Being the photographer that I am, instead of stopping him, I grabbed the camera before I pulled him out of it!

LOL! I laugh because it's cute and funny, but also because he reminds me SO MUCH of Noah at that age! And not to worry, he was the same way w/ books and now loves them and is always begging for more books at bedtime. I hope you have all your furniture tethered to the wall- if not you'll want to get on it with Mr. Danger there - haha!

ReplyDeleteI think the not sitting still thing is definitely a boy thing. Ryan is the same way and Olivia could sit and have books read to her all day and has always been that way. For the last year or so we have Ryan in a library program for kids his age where they read a book but also allow the kids to get up and dance and move depending on the song/activity. I think he really enjoys it although I can't say it has helped too much in his ability to sit still but he does ask for us to read books now!
