Happy 5th Birthday, Katelynn!

Five years ago marked a very important turning point in my life.  I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and became a mommy for the first time.  What a journey it has been!  Being a mom has been so much more than I ever thought it could or would be.  I feel so blessed to be a part of Katelynn's life and have her as our daughter.  It is hard to believe that already five years have passed.  I will never get these five years back to see my baby girl as a baby again.  We are so proud of who she is becoming, but time is just going by too quickly for me!  This is my last year before my baby girl begins elementary school and dare I say it won't be long before those teenage years sneak up on us?

We won't be celebrating with the big birthday party until this weekend, but I had to make today as special as I possibly could.  Katelynn brought cupcakes to school and then I picked her up early for a birthday lunch at Chick-fil-a (her choice of course)

Daddy made it home for her special day, and he asked her where she wanted to go for dinner.... of course for the second year in a row, we found ourselves at Chuck-E-Cheese.  We had a great night though!

This was the first time we have been to Chuck-E-Cheese that she has been able to pedal this bike rde and raise it in the air herself.  Her response as I was taking the picture was, "Wow, Mom.  Five-year olds can do this ride!"

Justin was determined that 2.5 year olds can do it too.  He actually did it a little bit but couldn't keep it in the air.

I had left over cake mix from the cupcakes.  My original goal was the attempt a Rapunzel tower for her so I made various little cakes to try and construct it.  On the way home from preschool though, she said she wanted a Minnie Cake instead.  I was ecstatic.. I knew I could pull that off in the short time I had before we left for the birthday dinner.  It wasn't perfect, but it worked and it only took me ten minutes!

Justin wasn't so sure of this guy.  It took him a very long time to let him come near him and even then, there were no smiles until Chucky was far away.  :)

One day all of us will look at the same time, right?

Five year old birthdays are the best!  The fun didn't end in the parking lot- Grandma and Grandpa ha d a new bike for Katelynn and she got to cruise in the parking lot on it!
What a great day!  It almost made me forget how sad I am that I already have a five-year old!  I told her she is NOT allowed to have any more birthdays!  :)
