Dress-up Princess

Katelynn has become quite the "dress-up princess." She LOVES to put on lots of different clothes and shoes and parade around the house. I wish I always had my camera on my hip because in the past few days I have seen her in quite a bit of silly outfits. Yesterday as I was getting ready for the day, she walked into the bathroom with what appeared to be excercise shorts. I sat there puzzled for a minute trying to figure out when we had ever bought her her own excercise pants and then I realized what she was wearing- her brother's newborn-sized pants. No wonder they looked like the spandex shorts on her! Her imagination with dress-up has become quite the entertainment in the house. Unfortanetly, it also causes quite a bit of messes for me to pickup. I can't seem to get ready for the day without her having pulled a ton of my clothes or her dad's clothes out of the closet and begun fashioning them around for us. She especially loves to wear my shoes and parade around. In her eyes, nothing is too big or too small for her to wear!

This past week I got all of Katelynn's old clothes that she has outgrown out of storage. We were saving them in case we had another girl, but now that Justin is here and very much a boy, it's time for me to part with all my baby girl clothes. Will we have another? Only time will tell, but I just can't find the room to keep storing all of both Katelynn and Justin's clothes. It's sad having to part with her clothes, but what can you do? Anyway, Katelynn was very sad about her clothes leaving when I explained it to her yesterday. She says she's not too big for them. "I'm small, Mommy!" Well, she had to model some of them as I was getting them ready. Below in the picture, she is wearing her PJ shirt, then a T-shirt and then a tank top that is a little on the small side. On her bottoms, she had her pull-up on, then a pair of bloomers that go with a dress that was too small and then a skirt bathing suit bottom... oh and who could forget the 6-9 month sun hat she is styling!

Last week, which is totally old news this week, her favorite items in the closet were all my swimsuits. And don't think she's only going to wear one of them at a time- oh no! She can fit them all on her at once!! "SEE! Look at meee!"

And although we are hoping that Justin will go for the dirty boy toys rather than play dress-up, we couldn't help but let Katelynn have a little fun dressing him up. I mean pink shades are cool for boys now a days anyway, right? :-)
