Gotta Love Bathtime!

I know I posted when the kids starting bathing together, but I forget if I mentioned that I haven't been able to go back to using Justin's baby tub anymore. He screams bloody murder if I try to bath him in the baby tub, but he LOVES the big tub with his big sister. Bath time has been somewhat challenging at times trying to get Justin all soaped up and Katelynn too so I found a bathseat the other week. This was Justin's first day in it. He loves it! He is sitting up pretty well on his own, but this helps me so much not worry about him falling over and knocking his head while I'm trying to get everyone cleaned up. It also has allowed me to let him play longer in the tub.

Katelynn had to help get his hair all washed, but I'm not sure if she got more of his hair wet or his face in the process. Good thing he doesn't mind the water in his face!

.. can you guess who splashed the hardest? Poor Justin got covered. No tears though!

Sippy Cup!

We actually gave Justin a sippy cup over a week ago. He has a HUGE interest in food and cups. Everytime he is within reach of Katelynn's sippy cup, he grabs it and tries to either drink it or bite it so we decided there was no reason he couldn't have one of his own. We bought him new ones rather than making him share with his sister. I thought he would mainly want to chew on the end since he chews on everything these days, but he has actually been feeding himself the water too! He can't always get it tipped high enough, but I am pretty surprised he is holding it and getting some out when he is positioned the right way!

Dancing Diva

Dressing up in something happens every day around here. It's not uncommon to see Katelynn loaded up in several shirts, paints, skirts, hairbows, and of course her fashionable high heels (if not her 10 different pairs of play ones, then in mine that I never wear). It IS, however, uncommon for her to start dancing and posing for me when I pull out my camera. I got about 50 shots of her dancing around, and each one is hilarious to me!

So, do you think she will mind if I share these with her boyfriends down the road? :)

More Construction at the Miller House

Are you sick of my babbling yet and ready for me to post some pictures already? I have a bunch on my camera to share! Hopefully I'll get some up for everyone tomorrow. We now have our house back to ourselves, but it's F-I-L-T-H-Y dirty. I mean GROSS. So I should probably spend my weekend cleaning it, right? Ha,ha. Not me! I have begged and begged and convinced Jonathan that now is the best time to just continue working on the kitchen since it's already a mess. So, putty is up on our kitchen walls for some sanding work that needs to be done and a fresh new color of paint will be put on those walls this weekend (color still to be determined as we "fight" that one out). I"m so excited! After that, the only thing I want done to our kitchen is a new floor, which I am sure I will convince him of sooner rather than later (but surely it won't be this weekend I'll get that wish!) The worst part is that I'm eventually going to have to clean the awful mess left by the contractor, and it is a huge mess for sure!

Another step in milestones for Justin

This may be a small milestone, but I thought it was pretty exciting (and apparently I showed my excitement a bit much since Katelynn asked me, "Mommy, why you so prowd?"

Justin was laying on the floor on his back, and he lifted his head and part of his back up to try and sit up. He did it twice!!! Of course, he was unsuccessful, but I was still so excited for him!

Such a GIRL!

As Katelynn and I were reading stories this afternoon, I commented about how she would get to fly in an airplane in September just like the one in her book. We talked for a bit about how she had gotten to fly two times already and this would be her third time, but that Justin had never gotten to fly yet, and it would be his very first plane ride. Then all of a sudden Katelynn says, "Mommy, what are you going to wear on the plane?" Umm... hadn't thought about my wardrobe for two months from now just yet. :) And then she followed that question with, "What shoes you wear on the plane? Maybe your tennis shoes and socks or maybe another pair?" Only a girl would be worrying about what to wear and what shoes were needed for a plane ride two months from now!

"But it's my favorite!"

Are we really getting to that age already where getting out of a store without something for Katelynn is going to be a hassle? Today I had some returns at Old Navy to do. Of course they have all kinds of gidgets at the register that my 2.5 year old can get into while I'm trying to complete my return. Today I just let her play with them rather than hassle with trying to get her to keep her hands off. They had key chains and compact cases that she thought were the best. She had a handful of them and kept opening up the compacts to look at herself in the mirror. When I finished my transaction, I asked her to put the things away. She put everything away but one pink keychain and one pink compact. She held up the keychain and said, "Mommy, it's my favorite." I told her that it was very nice but we weren't buying it today. So, she puts it done and holds up the compact. "But, Mommy, it's my favorite. Pink is my favorite." I again told her that we wouldn't get it today, maybe another day. So, she tried one last measure to get it: "But, Mommy, I can't see myself. I need to see myself." Where do they think of these things? I simply said, "Our mirror at home works just fine for you to see yourself in. Let's go, Katelynn." She finally gave up and came with me free of all her extra gadgets.
