Sprayground Water Fun!

We literally spend almost every day somewhere related to water now that summertime has hit the Carolinas (temperature wise anyway.. I know it's not technically summer yet). Today was the spraygrounds at a local park.

Poor Justin isn't at a great age for water fun. He's not sitting up securely enough for me to sit him down in it and then of course there's the big issue of him not being able to wear sunscreen. I try to just keep him both somewhat covered from the sun AND cool as much as I can. I kept dipping his feet in the spraying water to get cool every once in a while, and he would laugh and laugh at it hitting him. However, his sister managed to splash it at his face once and he wasn't a fan of that one bit!

Cuddle Time with Daddy

Jonathan was going to be leaving the next day to go out of town for the first time in about 11 weeks. It was going to be a rough day, but Justin wasn't thinking about that when he cuddled up next to Daddy and decided to take a nice little nap!
And just because it was the same day and is cute- here he was playing with Daddy on the couch:

Bubbles of Fun

I have been looking for these bubbles for months now and finally found them! I thought they were going to be more spill-proof than they are, but they still make it much easier for Katelynn to blow her own bubbles. She just has to squeeze the bottle and the wand pops up covered in bubbles for her. This avoids a lot of the mess on her hands trying to stick it in and out and keeps the solution on the wand for her in time to get the bubbles blown. I just wish the bottle were spill proof and then these would be the best bubbles EVER!

First Bike Ride

Today was Katelynn's first time getting to ride her bike around the neighborhood. She has finally mastered it enough that I took her around the neighborhood today. I didn't realize how many hills are in our subdivision though. It was a bit tough helping her on the hills and pushing Justin in his baby stroller! I am sure she will master hills in no time too though. She has impressed me with how quickly she has picked up on the tasks of her bike!

Getting close to a huge milestone

These pictures aren't great, but they show exactly why mommy got really excited today- Justin can sit up all by himself! Now, I know this isn't exactly the greatest posture yet (as you can tell by photo number one, it causes a bit of pressure on the tummy and spit up happens) and he can only hold it for a few minutes at the most, but I still am so excited and proud of my little guy.

I was clipping coupons (hence the background mess), and Justin was playing with toys in front of me. All of a sudden I realized that he wasn't leaning on me at all. I jumped up, walked to the kitchen, grabbed my camera, and came back and shot a few pictures before he started leaning over and almost falling. I say that's pretty darn good progress for a four month old!

It's a BUG... or maybe a feather

KATELYNN: (Screeching) "Bug! Bug!"
MOMMY: "Where?"
KATELYNN: (Still screeching) "Right heeerre! Right Heerree!"
MOMMY: "Oh, honey, that's not a bug. That's just a little feather." (Picks it up and hands it to Katelynn.)
KATELYNN: "Maybe it's Donald Duck's."
MOMMY: "Maybe."
KATELYNN: "I go give back to Donald Duck through TV, okay?"
MOMMY: "I think he would want you to just keep the feather."
KATELYNN: "I give it to Mickey?"
MOMMY: "Why don't you give it to your Mickey doll that you have. Sticking it through the TV wouldn't work very well."
KATELYNN: "Okay. I do dat."

(The funniest part about this whole conversation is that I had NO idea she knew who Donald Duck was. She does not even watch TV on a daily basis, but she does watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when she does watch TV. Still though, Donald isn't very popular in the show so I was shocked she knew who he was and that a white feather could come from him!)

And later today yet another funny conversation as I was getting dressed:

KATELYNN: "Your bra and undies match, mommy."
MOMMY: "Yes, they do. Good job, Katelynn."
KATELYNN: "I wear bra when I be a mommy?"
MOMMY: "Yes, when you get older, you will get to wear a bra."
KATELYNN: "When I a mommy?"
MOMMY: "Yep."
KATELYNN: (Laughing) "I not a mommy now. I Katelynn now."

A Wet Afternoon

Today was another great day out! We spent the morning at Monkey Joe's (a bounce house) so we decided we had to make the most of the rest of the afternoon outdoors. We pulled out Katelynn and Justin's itty bitty baby pool and her new slip and slide and she had a blast. The next-door neighbors came over after school and joined in on the fun too!

Katelynn with Erika and Max
She didn't really catch on to the run and slide once you hit the mat idea. She just kept running (which scared mommy that she was going to slip and hurt herself)
There she goes sliding.. just a little late since she's at the end!
